On two of our tours, a Tajikistan tour is the mountain link between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The Four Stans Odyssey crosses at Oybek to Khujand, with its bazaar and fortress walls, continues to Istaravshan, a city with more than 2,500 years of history, and on to Penjikent and the Sarazm ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site more than 5,500 years old. From there we visit six of the Seven Lakes of Marguzor in the Fan Mountains. The Long Road Through the 5 Stans flies into Dushanbe for the National Museum, the Hissar Fortress and a drive past Iskanderkul Lake.

How do we cross the borders?

On the Four Stans Odyssey we drive in from Tashkent at the Oybek border and leave at Jartepa on the way to Samarkand. On the 5 Stans tour we fly from Almaty to Dushanbe and drive out through Khujand and Oybek to Tashkent.
